Amid the musical stylings of Maroon 5, Travis Scott and Big Boi at the world's most-watched concert during the Super Bowl halftime show, it was SpongeBob SquarePants that had people talking. Nobody loves them. Not even the middle-aged women who apparently make up their fan base and find singer Adam Levine's messily tatted body and awkward but still totally douchey dance moves "hot".
"Janet Jackson's good reputation was tarnished for 50 percent less nipple than we saw today", another user added. Questionable enough track list but overall gave me the brief sexual awakening that I required from Adam Levine at this time.
Morgan Jordal kicked off the twitter trash talk when she posted an image of a child holding a retro cushion up to their TV screen as Levine did his thing.
"One Love." He shared an image of the "One Love" light display featured during their performance.
A Change.org petition was started asking Maroon 5 to drop out of the show, and the controversy reportedly made it hard to book guest artists.
Kavitha Davidson, an ESPN writer, tweeted that the performance was like the "Fyre Festival" of halftime shows.

While there were many that enjoyed the halftime show, there were a lot of people who were not fans of it.

Unfortunately, the tribute wasn't what fans had hoped for but don't worry: fans are fixing that oversight by giving Super Bowl audiences the "Sweet Victory" they were looking for. "I think there are plenty of people - a lot of the players, to be honest - who support Kap and also do their job for the National Football League", he said.
This Sunday evening, after stuffing your face with chips and wings and watching gobs of commercials, you'll have to wrestle with this question: How was Maroon 5's halftime performance?
Pink, Rihanna and Cardi B all declined to perform, with the latter two doing so due to their support of footballer Colin Kaepernick.
