"I grew up knowing that the only way we could make change is when we come together", Booker said in his announcement, which focused on his biography and experience.
"To me, he has the ability to inspire people, but also comes with the back-up of substance", he added, pointing to Booker's recent work on successful criminal justice reform efforts.
In his interview with The Post, Trump predicted Booker was "not going to be a problem" for him to beat.
The New Jersey Democrat is facing an array of competitors for his party's nomination.
"We'll wait to look at his record", she said. "I believe we do". "Together, America, we will rise".

Booker, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, last summer and fall was one of the Democrats leading the push against the confirmation of now-Justice Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
And as a surrogate for the 2012 Obama campaign, Booker admonished Democratic criticism of GOP nominee Mitt Romney's business career, saying: "Stop attacking private equity".
With an elite law degree in hand, Booker bypassed more lucrative opportunities and moved into an affordable housing complex in one of Newark's poorest neighborhoods, planning to lend his skills to a nonprofit.
