Tensions are high in the West Bank over ongoing Israeli aggression at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the Old City of Jerusalem. The man was identified by the Palestinian Health Ministry as 26-year-old Ahmad Manasra from the local village of Wadi Fuqin.
It said in a short press statement that a Palestinian was shot in the chest and shoulder by Israeli soldiers as he was in a vehicle at an Israeli army roadblock at the entrance to Bethlehem.
The Israeli military says a soldier stationed at a military post near Bethlehem identified rocks being thrown at Israeli vehicles.
The ministry demanded, in a statement reported by Deutsche Presse-Agentur, the UN Security Council to break its silence, defend its remaining credibility towards the situation in occupied Palestine and take necessary measures to implement relevant global resolutions, mainly resolution 2334.

Maryland weather: Snow possible Friday, but temperatures will reach 60s on Sunday
After weeks of bitterly cold temperatures and mountains of snow, it looks like the GTA is in for a bit of a warmup this weekend. On Sunday night wintry showers will gradually become more isolated and become confined to the west and north overnight.
The military did not identify the soldier's intended target and some Israeli media reports said warning shots were fired in the air, suggesting the two Palestinians may have been hit unintentionally. "Details regarding the incident are being reviewed and the incident will be examined".
Manasra's death marks that of the fourth Palestinian killed by Israeli forces within 24 hours in the occupied West Bank, having closely followed another two incidents.
It is located near a Palestinian refugee camp in the West Bank, the territory occupied by Israel for more than 50 years. Israeli-Palestinian peace talks collapsed in 2014.
