'Game of Thrones' season 8: Runtimes of all the episodes REVEALED!

14 March, 2019

Season 7's finale came in at almost 80 minutes, which has been the longest Game of Thrones episode to date.

After fan site Winter Is Coming noticed HBO has already posted two Game of Thrones Season 8 episodes to its programming schedule, a commenter pointed out that simply modifying the URL uncovered listings for future episodes as well.

Back in 2017, sound designer Paula Fairfield teased that the Game of Thrones showrunners were considering extending all six episodes of the upcoming final season from the traditional hour-long run times to the length of feature films.

Viewers will have to wait until after the physical broadcast of the first episode to read reviews from TV critics in the U.S. and elsewhere in the world. Episode 1, which premieres on April 14, will be 54 minutes, while Episode 2 the following week is 58 minutes.

The revealed runtimes differ somewhat from 2018 runtime hints, such as series' director David Nutter's description: "Season 8 episodes will all, I think, be longer than 60 minutes".

Season 3 is a crucial time for Game of Thrones.

The second reason is that content creators definitely know when they're sitting with a dud and in this case try and limit the number of inevitable bad reviews, and the period in advance that those bad reviews start to appear, since this further damages the number of consumers who might pay to see it. There are a lot of firsts in these episodes.

In the eighth and final season, there will be two episodes at 80 minutes with the fifth episode having the same runtime as the season finale.
