She got to this tournament thanks to a wildcard and managed to defeat several top players on her way to the trophy, including former number 1 WTA, German Angelique Kerber, in the final. Andreescu showed her quality by breaking Kerber in the first game and racing through the first set 6-4. She broke Williams in the match's longest game that went to deuce five times when Williams' forehand went wide. She won the prestigious Les Petites As world junior tournament at age 13 in 2014, over Claire Liu. I know this. I was expecting a tough match. She used every ounce of her creativity, experience and knowledge of the game to attempt to overcome a body that couldn't perform at 100 percent - and it wasn't enough.
Andreescu missed a match-point opportunity on Svitolina's serve, but then won the next game to finish it in dramatic fashion, fighting off three break points.
"I didn't think it was the time to talk about tactics that much, but mostly just focus on that mental aspect", he said.
"After I spoke to my coach I just let it all out there", she said.
"This moment has become a reality so it's really, really insane", Andreescu told the crowd after her victory.
In 2016, she achieved a career-high ranking of No. 3, and she won the Australian Open and Roland Garros junior doubles titles in 2017.

Odell Beckham thanks Giants in heartfelt farewell message
In 2019, the Giants are run by a general manager that mentioned height and weight when discussing his disdain for analytics. They have now managed to provide him with arguably the most talented receiver duo in the National Football League as well.
Titans’ pursuit of Antonio Brown appears over
Brown spoke with Pittsburgh owner Art Rooney II earlier this off-season and decided it would be best for the two to part ways. ESPN is now reporting trade talks for Brown are ongoing and a deal with Buffalo is not out of the question but "unlikely".
Belinda Bencic is getting better and better!
"I think confidence is nearly everything for a player", Andreescu said after her fourth-round upset of No. 18 Qiang Wang. Despite failing to make the final, Williams' stellar performance at the 2018 BNP Paribas Open gave tennis fans - and Venus fans in particular - reason to believe the then-37-year-old had found a fountain of youth. The 22-year-old Swiss could have had an even easier time against the Czech but converted just four of her 16 break-point opportunities. So when I do see that during the match, when they're just kind of bunting the ball or giving free points, I take advantage of that.
Andreescu's win is a validation of her fresh, multi-faceted game, and also the latest indication that Canada may well be on its way to becoming a tennis superpower.
Pegged as a player to watch after a strong junior career, Andreescu has all the tools for success on the main circuit.
Andreescu was ranked at number 152 in the world at the beginning of 2019, now moving up to 60th.
At one point, when Andreescu claimed an energy-draining point via a powerful overhead shot to force deuce on Kerber's serve, the commentator on DAZN asked 'is there anything she can't do?' such was her swagger on the court.
