It happened around 3:10 a.m. on March 10 aboard a northbound 2 train as it pulled into the 238 Street / Nereid Avenue station in the Bronx.

NY police arrested a man suspected in a heinous attack on a 78-year-old woman on a subway in the Bronx.

A 36-year-old man named Marc Gomez was apprehended by police and will be charged with second-degree assault, third-degree assault, and harassment.

The woman was met by an ambulance at the next train station, and treated for swelling and cuts to the face, the police said.

Gomez was ordered to be held.

U.S. Rep. Devin Nunes sues Twitter, users for $250M
Huckabee said he is "so proud" of Nunes for suing, and that Twitter is essentially a "political arm" of the Democratic party. The complaint also accuses Twitter of "shadow-banning" Nunes and other conservatives on the platform.

Reports state that Gomez repeatedly punched and kicked the woman in the head.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot F. Shea tweeted a photo with a caption announcing, "The subject wanted for the brutal subway attack of an elderly woman IS IN CUSTODY".

"Thank you to the worldwide community for the tremendous assistance", Shea wrote.

The seemingly unprovoked attack was caught on camera, and sparked outrage nationwide because witnesses were seen filming the attack rather than intervening and trying to help the 78-year-old woman.

The NYPD spokesperson did not know if the department was aware of the incident between March 10 and March 22.
