Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won his first game as permanent manager of Manchester United as goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial secured a 2-1 home victory over Watford to put them back into the top four.
Solskjaer's first game since being named manager on a permanent basis was a disappointing one with only the goals, in each half, from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial providing any satisfaction for the Norwegian.
"It's exciting. I was excited when Gareth took over because I think he spent enough time with the players from a very young age", added the former England captain.
"The first 20 minutes we started so slow and sloppy and you could see we have had players out with injuries in the global break and not been able to train them", said Solskjaer.
One highlight for Solskjaer was the performance of Luke Shaw, who set up Rashford's goal with a wonderful pass through the Watford defence. But their decision making in the final third was continuing to let them down.
